NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH 2020
September is a National Preparedness Month. Every Year, National Preparedness Month promote family and community disaster planning now and throughout the year. This year, join your community in preparing for emergencies and disasters of all types, and encourage the community as a whole to become more prepared. Make sure everyone understands where to go and what to do in case of an emergency. You can check visit www.ready.gov/be-informed to learn more. Consider the following steps to help you better prepare for an emergency situation.
- Download apps/check for wireless emergency alerts.
- If you live in an area that is prone to earthquakes, make improvements to your building to fix structural issues that could cause your building to collapse during an earthquake.
- If you’re residing in area prone to flooding, keep important documents in a waterproof container. Protect your property flood insurance.
- If you’re residing in area prone to wildfires, clear debris or articles that could easily fuel the flames.
- Learn about local hazards and conduct a drill to practice emergency response actions.
- Plan with neighbors to help each other and share resources.
